Book Review: Listen To Your Heart by Kasie West

Listen To Your Heart by Kasie West

Release Date: May 29th, 2018
Publisher: Point
Pages: 336
My Rating: 4/5 Stars
Goodreads

I'm a huge Kasie West fan, so I was super excited when I found out this new book was coming out just in time for summer.

Listen To Your Heart was really cute, as per usual for most of Kasie West's books. I was totally expecting a nice, summer read, where the story was somehow based around a lake and the great outdoors. However, while it DOES involve our main character's love of the water, this book mostly focused on the class podcast throughout the story.

Don't get me wrong, it was a good book, a very fluffy, cute contemporary involving cute boys and what not, but I wasn't expecting the majority of the book to be about school and the podcast.

Overall, I really ended up enjoying it. I thought the little twist near the end where the main character really starts to be honest with herself was well done and really brought the whole story to a nice little end.

Book Review: It Ends With Us

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

Release Date: August 2nd 2016
Publisher: Atria Books
Pages: 376
My Rating: 5/5 Stars
Goodreads

I've been a Colleen Hoover fan ever since "Maybe Someday" was released. I bought and read it as soon as it came out because I kept hearing so much about it.

Needless to say, I was SUPER excited when I got my hands on It Ends With Us. This book hit me right in the feels, it was SO SO good!! It's definitely my second FAVORITE book after Maybe Someday. Absolutely amazing and I'm really glad she touched on this issue. Colleen Hoover did such a good job, I was very impressed.

“All humans make mistakes. What determines a person's character aren't the mistakes we make. It's how we take those mistakes and turn them into lessons rather than excuses.”

This book follows a girl named Lily. She works hard, graduated college, follows her dream of opening up a flower shop, and meets this amazing guy Ryle on a rooftop. Everything starts out amazing with Ryle, until things aren't so amazing.

I really loved the growth of these characters, especially Lily, the way she realized her own self-worth and really opened her eyes. Honestly I'm not even sure how to put into words just how good this book really was. It's been a few months since I read it and it's still hitting me! I think it's a really important read that a lot of females should read, even if your not a Colleen Hoover fan but ESPECIALLY if you are!

Well I hope you enjoyed this short review, and please don't hesitate to subscribe to my blog for more book reviews, updates and monthly releases! :) xo

Book Review: The Perfect Stranger

The Perfect Stranger by Megan Miranda

Release Date: April 11th 2017
Publisher: Simon Schuster
Pages: 337
My Rating: 3/5 Stars
Goodreads

The Perfect Stranger was actually my very first ever adult thriller. I was expecting a fast-paced mystery, but instead, was disappointed with a very slow, drawn-out plot. The story is about this girl that moves into the country with her roommate, she eventually realizes that her roommate has not been home for a while.

By a while, I mean it took her about 5 days to realize her roommate was missing. In a way I kind of understand this, because obviously they have their own lives and jobs and everything, but at the same time, if you haven't heard from your roommate for several days, when you both normally keep in touch, you'd think it would have taken her a little less time to finally think "hey, I think something may have happened to my roommate"...

Basically, it took almost half the book just for the main character to realize her roommate was missing. Once we move past the whole missing roommate, we finally start to see things happening. Honestly, I think things could have been a little more exciting and faster-paced.

I have to admit that the ending really surprised me. The whole book, I thought I had it all figured out, but was very surprised how it actually turned out. It's mostly because of this that I ended up giving it 3 out of 5 stars, considering I almost DNF'D it halfway through. I just couldn't connect to the main character and the first half of the book was slow, but closer to the ending is when I started enjoying it.

Reading Update

The Defiant (The Valiant #2) by Lesley Livingston

I just read 'The Valiant' not too long ago, and actually really ended up enjoying it. I had never read any of Lesley Livingston's work before, although a few of her books have been on my TBR for quite some time now.

I enjoyed 'The Valiant' so much that I couldn't wait to pick up this sequel! I'm only around 70 pages in so far, but it's already just as good as the first book. It picks up a little after the ending of the first book, and also gives you some recaps in case it's been a while in between reading these 2 books.

Can we talk about this cover btw?! Who doesn't love this cover, I think it's absolutely gorgeous!!

I hope you enjoyed my reading update, I thought it'd be a fun new thing to post on the blog! :) Also, don't forget to subscribe to the blog, follow me on Bookstagram, or friend me on Goodreads! Let me know what your currently reading in the comments below!

If you'd like more info on this book, or the first one, you can check them out on Goodreads: The Valient, The Defiant

Happy Reading!!

Book Review: Everlife by Gena Showalter

Everlife (Everlife #3) by Gena Showalter

Release Date: February 27th 2018 by
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Pages: 492
My Rating: 4.5 Stars
Goodreads

The only reason I didn't end up giving this book a full 5 stars, was because of the fact that a good first half of the book is spent re-capping stuff that happened in the first 2 books. In the beginning of the book I understood this, and didn't totally mind it, but after it kept going right through to the middle of the book, it got quite annoying. Other than that, this third and final book in the Everlife trilogy was very enjoyable.

I've enjoyed every minute of the Everlife trilogy, and I really thought this last book was such a good ending to this world and its' characters. At first I wasn't too sure if I would love it as much as the first 2 (as I explained above), but also because of how a certain character had changed so drastically, but they came around by the end of the book, and I was SO happy about it. I really did love the ending, I thought it was a perfect conclusion to the series.

Compared to the first 2 books, Everlife takes a while to get the story really going, but once it does, it's hard to put down! There was the action, drama and relationships and so much more that I loved so much about the other 2 books. It's so hard to explain without giving anything away, especially if you haven't read the series yet, but if you haven't, go pick up these books right now!
